![]() ![]() Disobedience: Yes, this is one of those machines, those that try to tell you what you are allowed to install in it and what not. ![]() ![]() Best drive available appears to be 512 GB Transcend MTS400 which is getting harder to find and is very expensive for its capacity.ĮDIT: Transcend has since released MTS420S (no DRAM) and MTS430S available at much lower prices than the MTS400. I recently picked up a Lenovo ThinkPad T440p, a pretty good machine - sturdy, decent battery life, and upgradeable to be a pretty powerful machine. More important issue than speed is the fact that the slot is only 42mm length and no top-tier drive manufacturer released any SATA drives that size. For systems with a 355 mm (13 inches) HD display: System: Width: 335 mm (13.2 inches) Depth: 229 mm (9 inches) Height: 29.95 mm (1.18 inches) Environment: Maximum altitude without pressurization: 3048 m (10 000 ft) Temperature. You could maybe make this a valid complaint for the T460p though which apparently still used SATA in it's M.2 slot. There were some Broadwell laptops with NVMe I believe but it didn't become widespread until Skylake. M.2 SATA III is definitely a step up from the previous generation's mSATA at SATA II speed (vs. I don't think there were any NVMe laptops when T440p was released. Not sure why you'd think it would be faster. Is it better to get a regular 2.5 SSD for this machine or will the M.2 provide faster throughput? Theoretically, the M.2 should be faster, but as I said, I can't find any details. ![]()
